With these series of posts, I'm going to be trying to show some videos and/or demos that I might find appealing for anyone OUTSIDE the demoscene.

This is a demoreel made for NVScene 2008 (kind of) demoparty hosted by nVidia. It's a mix of some of the best "recent" (as of 2008) demos, with a nice soundtrack by gloom and was definitely made to try to appeal the nvscene visitors and show them what this "demoscene" is about, in a visual way.

This is from 2007. A year after I bought my flat:

    Clutter

This is after spending last weekend and today uncluttering. Also, although there's no picture, there's not a single cable rolling on the floor, so it can be easily cleaned. I cut a couple of 100x15cm MDF boards and tied them under the table. My cable/voip modem, router, a pair of backup hard disks and all power strips are there, tightly tied. Still got some tieing to do (although I'm not showing here, there's another same-sized desk with my wife's laptop, and I have uncluttered that one too, both over and under it).

    Unclutter_1

That multifunction printer is no longer there. On its place, I have an Epson Stylus SX610FW on its own stand on the other side of the room, connected via Wi-Fi.

Next step is finding a wireless keyboard + mouse which don't suck. So far I've tried the top-line ones from Microsoft and Logitech (admittedly old), and they suck bad ass. Has the key+mouse wireless technology changed in the last couple of years? Can anyone recommend some?

    "Reposterous" @Ros'n'Roll? :-)

Although I am the responsible for the horrible video quality.

You'll excuse the video quality... but I didn't really have time to tweak it to make it look better. They were captured using DosBox. These are MS-DOS demos... please take their age into consideration when judging their quality :-)

    Distortion - by Unknown Productions

I made this one in 1996, and came out 6th at the Euskal 5 (summer '97) 64kb intro compo. It was made to run fluently enough on a 486-33 Mhz. Compare that to the nowadays Quad Cores with tons of Ghz!! :-)

Stimulation Saturation - by Unknown Productions

This one was made in 1998, however I didn't finish it so I didn't release it back then. In 2000 I went to the F* Party and thought I would enter something to the competition... so I made a 1 minute graphic (saying it was unfinished), added it to the demo, compiled it and entered to the compo... to our surprise (and due to the voting system on that party)... it won!

Of course it was not the best demo in the compo (it had two years and it was unfinished!), but anyway, here it is. This ran pretty well on a Pentium 2-233Mhz, and it's only 256 colors... all the color mixes and transparencies were calculated in realtime, adjusting the color palette as necessary.

I'll try to make video captures of my windows demos and post them here eventually... when I have the time :-)
